Remembering Those We Have Lost To Food Allergies
I would like to take this time and remember some of the recent and not so recent deaths that have occurred from food
allergens. These are just some of the reported cases. It is very sad that there have been so many and yet we have not
heard about most of them.

Food Allergy Deaths in 2025:
Leigh Rodgers, 34, died from anaphylaxis after ınjectıons of d’ye for CT Scan in Durham, England for a tooth
ínfectíon.
Avarie Anne Tierney, 21, died from anaphylaxis while studying abroad from tree nut allergy.
Food Allergy Deaths in 2022:
24-year-old Jess Prinsloo, diagnosed with a milk allergy when she was just nine months old, was thought to
have been expõsed to milk after she stirred her tea with a contaminated spoon. Seconds after exposure, she
suffered anaphylaxis.
Food Allergy Deaths in 2019:
Denise Saldate, 11, suffered a fast-moving anaphylactic reaction to milk protein, an ingredient in a new
prescription toothpaste.
Food Allergy Deaths in 2012:
Myriam Ducre-Lemay, 20, died after kıssıng her boyfriend that had eaten peanut butter.
Food Allergy Deaths in 2010:
Ylatedrissa Aquino, 17, died after prom night from accidental peanut butter ıngestıon.
Food Allergy Deaths in 2005:
Christina Desforges, 15, died after kıssıng her boyfriend, who had just eaten a peanut butter snack.
Food Allergy Deaths 2003:
Sabrina Shannon, 13, died from dairy protein that was still present on some school lunch tongs. The same
tongs were used to pick up Sabrina's french fries.
Food Allergy Deaths in 2002:
Trent A. Hankins, 31, died after touching food containing peanut oil at a dinner party.
Thomas Egna, 5 months, died from milk allergy after being fed milk in a daycare.
