So, basically, I walked into a party last Friday
thinking I was about to surprise my boyfriend.
Turns out, the only one surprised was me.
I step inside, and the first thing I see
front and center, like a badly written movie scene
is my best friend and my boyfriend. Kissing. In the middle
of the kitchen, under those awful blue LED lights.
For a second, I genuinely thought I imagined it.
Like, maybe my brain short-circuited because thereās no way.
But no. They separate, she wipes her mouth, and then
she actually has the nerve to say, "Wait, itās not what it looks like."
Not what it looks like? Oh, so you were just checking if his lips
were still attached? Doing a taste test?
What, exactly, is the alternate explanation here? And Jake, oh, Jake.
He just stands there, mouth opening and closing
like heās buffering, before finally stammering out,
"It was an accident." An accident. Right.
Just like how I "accidentally" picked up my drink
and poured it over his head. J
ust like how I "accidentally" laughed when Emily started crying.
Just like how I "accidentally" left that party, got myself a McFlurry,
and slept like a baby.
So, basically, some people are just really bad at lying.
