I’ve seen people arguing on this site and thought i’d add info, Yes, DID/OSDD-1 is rare, however it’s not quite as rare as people think. This is a trauma-based disorder that is hard to get help for and is VERY under researched. I do understand that it's commonly romanticized on Tiktok, but this does not mean individuals are faking or trying to fake. “oh but what about the study that brought up DID Tiktok fakers?” that study was very unethical and did not ask permission as well as using systems that HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED. Instead of repeating the previous peanut example or the redhead example, let me talk about the left hand example. Being left handed was stigmatized and about 3% of the population were left handed due to stigma. Later on, it grew to 10% because it became more talked about. (roughly 1/10 people.) I also see a lot of people claim someone can’t have a bunch of physical and mental disorders while also having DID/OSDD-1. This is just a weird argument. It is called psychosomatic when a mental disorder and physical illness are linked. For example: let’s say a child was born with ADHD and autism (common things) this increases your baseline of dissociation and your predisposition towards anxiety and depression. Now, if you’re born in an unstable environment with trauma, your ego states may not form normally and develop dissociative barriers. It’s been proven trauma changed how your brain and body functions. Its also been proven that high-stress, which leads to high blood pressure, can lead to heart disease. Obviously, there are other things it leads to, but this is an example. Introjects are common with DID/OSDD-1, especially with comorbidities such as ADHD and autism where you have hyperfixations and/or special imterests. Fakeclaiming does not just harm those who are “faking” it also harms those who do have DID. I’m tired of seeing people fakeclaiming without basic knowledge. Do not reality check unless you’re a professional, even if you think someone is faking. It’s dangerous and can lead to unstability within someone and will cause more harm than good. If youd like to argue more, my discord is @monachopsis111 -a tired system & psych major

mfw i see a disorder that’s heavily romanticised and rising in popularity with certain groups of ppl on tiktok/discord ect and i decide to take that disorder and use it as a personality trait (bc i had no personality before) and create a whole fool’s act and bury myself into even more delusions, pick out the small bad bits that happened in my childhood, call it “trauma” and make it harder for actual traumatised ppl to get an accurate diagnosis and then start being much more open about a disorder that i clearly very likely don’t have, and then spread this whole thing into a larger community with sometimes even literal children and coax these ppl into believing that they have this disorder too and once again making it harder for others (outside of this community) who went through unimaginable stuff, then i- sorry we mean we make these absolute bs concepts to make it “easier” for communities to self diagnose theirselves, and then we get fact-checked by “fakeclaimers”: 🤯
