Saturday, 11 February 2012 Big Hair 'Secret' Right, this is another one for the people with hair that just doesn't 'do' volume. When I want big hair I use the following: A teasing brush and/or a fine-toothed comb. Strong or Freeze-hold hairspray hair that's not been washed on that day (shiny clean hair just slips straight down) AND... THE LATEST THING WHAT I'VE DISCOVERED THAT NO-ONE TOLD ME ABOUT: mattifying root powder. What's that you say? POWDER for your HAIR? Good gracious, woman, we aren't living in the 18th century! To which I reply, STOP BEING SILLY AND TRY THIS MAGIC DEVIL-DUST. The basic idea is that it gives your roots a bit of texture and more 'grip', allowing greater volume at the roots from which to build. I first read of this stuff from a post by uber-goth hairdresser Iva Insane, and you can see the results she gets! Last night I tried such a product for the first time. Batiste XXL Volume is, as far as I can tell, powder mixed with dry shampoo which gives it a nice convenient spray-in formula and was pretty cheap (around £2), but you can also buy jars of just the powder such as Osis Dust-it or Label M Resurrection Style Dust - I think Schwartzkopf also do a cheaper high-street version in their Got2Be range. (I've not tried any of these.) Spray in at the roots, scruff it about to distribute (and to make sure you don't have big patches of white powder giving you a 'going grey' look) and notice your hair instantly start standing a bit. You can leave that as-it and just tousel it a little if it starts to go down later, or you can do what I did last night and continue with normal teasing and hairspray. The result was MASSIVE and GRAVITY-DEFYING, but wanting to go for a slightly more subtle look I tamed it down to get this (which lasted all night)
Brooch and earring holder by Natalie of Gothy Two Shoes Monday, May 22, 2017 DIY Brooch and Earring Frame Holder Whilst I had my staple gun out I decided to tackle another project. I was going to make a brooch and earring holder out of a frame and some lace. I got this wooden frame from an Op Shop and I spray painted it black. I liked this frame because it had a lip on the inner part, I was going to use this as a base to staple my lace. I also didn't want the backings of my accessories to scratch the wall, so I think the base helped with this. Standard stretchy lace from the fabric stash. I roughly cut it out. It didn't have to be perfect, especially because it's stretchy. I started folding and stapling it into place. I did a LOT of stretching, as I didn't want my heavy accessories to drag the fabric down. I only realised after that my staples were too big and some of the wood was being damaged! Eek!! I'm not a fussy person though, so I just used black paint to hide them :) I love that I can see all my brooch and earring options! Of course, this frame wasn't big enough for my whole collection ;) I used these 3M velcro type picture stips to hang it. This means I can take the frame off to get to my accessories. I hope this inspired you a little bit! Posted by Natalie at 10:53 AM Labels: DIY BlogThis!
Senin, 27 Maret 2017 REDDIT SCARY STORY #1 : I ONLY GO SHOPPING AT NIGHT By Reddit User : resistance1984 Aku menatap ke lantai, sebari seorang kasir mengecek barang belanjaanku dengan scanner di tangannya. Minggu, 02 April 2017 REDDIT SCARY STORY : THEY'RE JUST SO DARN CUTE By Reddit User : sp00kyscary Translated By Me Aku senang menjadi guru di kelas 2. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 Of Christmas doings and a make ahead breakfast~~~~ my two younger nephews, the Twins, can hardly wait. They came with us to the Dickens Fair this last weekend after joining us (surprisingly) to see a local community theater’s presentation of “A Christmas Carol”. When we got to the Fair, they were suddenly overwhelmed by the sounds, sights and scents of the Fair and although they were wearing modern clothing compared to our Dickens garb they got into the swing of it, even so much as asking their parents to buy them those “news boy” flat caps, now they are getting the idea why their older siblings like the genteel Victorian way of life---although as we know during those times certain things like sanitation and women’s rights were almost nil,----but they are getting the idea, much to their Mother’s relief. This morning I got a call from my sister in law and as we worked on what to have for Christmas dinner she told me that the boys are now insisting on wearing their caps to school but of course taking them off in class, she made sure their names were written on the inside of the caps. But, she said, they seem to cherish them, even my brother bought one and now is wearing it every time he goes outside or to work, “keeps his head warm” she said he told her and she thinks the Twins have found out the same. I think that is marvelous. I recently read an article about Ghost Stories at Christmas time and this goes beyond Dicken’s “Christmas Carol” “A Plea to Resurrect the Christmas Tradition of Telling Ghost Stories” by Colin Dickey at the Smithsonian Magazine web site https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/plea-resurrect-christmas-tradition-telling-ghost-stories-180967553/ He says “Though the practice is now more associated with Halloween, spooking out your family is well within the Christmas spirit” I think that is a perfectly Gothic idea. I mean why should Ghost Stories only be confined to Halloween, after all “A Christmas Carol” is a ghost story in the very meaning of the word. I recommend this article to all you Gothic Darklings and find a way to be able to tell them around the fireplace or by candle light or the lights of the Christmas tree, it would be a wonderful new and dark tradition. I’m also going to have a make ahead breakfast for Christmas day, although it will only be myself, Doyle, Sis and her roommate Brian (the Rodgers will be out of town) it makes perfect sense to do this. So the night before Christmas (or day before) you can make this without having to fuss about breakfast on Christmas day. The ingredients are: 1 pound hot sausage 6 slices bread, cubed 6 to 8 slices of pre-cooked bacon crumbled 1 cup grated cheese 6 eggs 2 cups of milk 1 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of mustard To prepare in a skillet crumble and cook the sausage until brown, drain (do the same with the bacon), Grease a 9 x 13 inch Pyrex pan or dish, line the bottom with the cubed bread. Then top with the sausage, bacon and cheese, in a bowl combine the milk, eggs and seasonings and beat well then pour over the layers in the pan, cover and refrigerate overnight. Next morning, take out and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, cut into squares and serve. Will serve between 6 to 8 people. Of course you’ll have the orange juice and coffee which you can prepare while it’s baking and toast and butter. I just love make ahead foods and this is perfect. Well I need to go, Sis and I have to do a bit of Grocery shopping and I know we’ll be going back again on Saturday for the dinner, which means we’ll be cooking and baking Saturday and Sunday with my sister-in law’s help. In the mean time Dear Darklings you have a wonderful Christmas. Later Darklings Posted by Vampire Rose at 9:49 AM
Tuesday, October 25, 2016 Laundry Closet: Hanger Holder With my laundry closet makeover, I needed somewhere to keep clothes hangers handy. I considered several options. Hooks could hang on the wall next to the dryer, right where I needed them.. but hooks wouldn't hold many hangers. What I really needed was something that would hang on the wall like a hook, but would stick straight out instead of curving. It needed to be fairly short; long enough to hold several hangers, but short enough to be out of the way. And of utmost importance, it needed to be not sharp on the end... because I would definitely poke my clumsy self. ;) I wandered around the home improvement store, trying to come up with a solution, when I spotted something that would be perfect. A door stop. :D It was just the right length, and the rubber end cap would serve a dual function of keeping the hangers from sliding off and preventing me from stabbing myself or poking an eye out. As with most of my projects, I spray painted the little guys black and added bats. :D The bats are wooden shapes from the craft store. I spaced them out appropriately on the wall... and they work perfectly. :D Laundry Closet: Hanger Holder
Tuesday, October 11, 2011 Easy and Inexpensive DIY Jewelry Display With this simple and inexpensive project, you can put your jewelry on display to enjoy every day. Cost: $5-15 Materials needed: picture frame velvet or other fabric cork tile cardboard duct tape scissors utility knife ruler or measuring tape stapler (optional) Your picture frame can be any size but needs to have enough depth to accommodate the cork and cardboard. No glass is needed. I used an 11" x 14" frame. You can use any opaque fabric of your choice. Black velvet makes an especially lovely backdrop for silver jewelry. I used pieces of a $4 velvet skirt from a thrift store. Cork tiles and rolls are sold in various sizes online and at many craft and office supply stores. A package of four 12" x 12" tiles costs about $10. Begin by cutting your cork tile and your cardboard to the proper size to fit into the back of your frame. If you have glass from the frame, you can use it as a template. I like to use a utility knife and ruler; scissors will also work. Cover the tile with fabric by placing the fabric right side down, placing the cork on top, and wrapping the fabric around to the back of the cork. Trim the fabric as needed; secure with staples or tape. Place the fabric-covered cork face down into the back of the frame, then place the cardboard on top of the cork. Secure with duct tape. Turn frame over to reveal your completed project! Use pins to hang your jewelry on the display.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2011 Stripey, Batty Chest of Drawers I love to rescue old furniture and give it new life with paint. With craft stores full of stencils and so forth, one does not need to be a Monet to create a fun piece of furniture. I'm sure the artists on etsy would scoff at me, but I am happy with the results (and that's all that matters). First, I sanded it a little to smooth out the nicks and dings, then applied a coat of latex primer. Primer helps the paint stick; this is especially important if you have not stripped the furniture down to the bare wood. Then I painted the drawer fronts and the sides of the chest black and the front and top of the chest white. I used Behr interior latex paint, the same stuff I use on my walls. After the paint was thoroughly dry, I masked off stripes using 1" painters tape. To make crisp stripes, I highly recommend spending a couple extra dollars for FrogTape instead of regular blue painters tape. The paint seeps underneath FrogTape much less, especially if you're careful to rub the edges down well. I then painted white over the unmasked areas. It might seem counter-intuitive to paint white over black, but with latex paints, lighter colors cover better. To dress up the drawer fronts, I decided to add bats behind the existing wood knobs. Craft stores sell a variety of little wood shapes for less than $1 each. Around Halloween, you can get shapes suitable for gothy decor -- bats, skulls, cats, coffins. I always stock up on bats. ;-) I painted the wood bats and knobs purple, then drilled a hole in each bat for the screw to go through. To finish, I gave all the painted surfaces a couple coats of polyurethane.

Monday, February 10, 2020 Entryway Organizer Some projects have such an impact that I think, "Why didn't I do this ages ago?" Improving my garage entryway was one of those projects. Because I park my car in the garage, I always use the garage door into and out of the house. The door opens into tiny entryway which has the basement stairs on one side and a wall on the other. The entryway poses some real challenges. At only about 3 feet (1 meter) square, it provides just enough space for the door to swing open. Unless this door is propped or held open, it closes on its own. And trying to maneuver around the half-open door puts one at risk for falling down the basement stairs. (Safety was apparently of no concern to the designers of my house.) Safety and convenience were both greatly improved by the addition of a magnetic doorstop. Simply push the door open until it touches the doorstop, and the magnet holds the door open. I love it! :) To really level up the entryway, I wanted to add an organizer to hold my work laptop, bag, keys, and so forth. There was plenty of horizontal and vertical space on the wall; however, depth was an issue. The organizer had to be shallow enough to allow the door to open completely. The biggest challenge was finding something large enough to hold my work laptop but thin enough to fit behind the door. Finally, I found a wire basket at the thrift store. I decided on a board and batten style for the organizer. Using boards, tape, and cardboard, I marked the placement of each element. I wanted the organizer to serve a secondary purpose of covering prior doorknob damage and a badly patched area where a large dog door had once been. To accomplish this, I attached hardboard to the wall. Then I attached 1x3 (vertical) and 1x4 (horizontal) trim boards. Hooks would be attached to the horizontal boards, so I ensured that they were screwed firmly into the wall studs. I painted everything grey to match the walls. I attached the basket and four hooks. Done! :) Now, instead of hanging my bag on the back of a chair and putting my laptop on the dining room table, I can keep everything in one place by the door. And it all fits neatly behind the door in a space less than 5 inches (13 cm) deep! Posted by J.Bane

Friday, 11 November 2011 This goth does not glorify death. Today is Armistice Day; on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Europe stopped beating itself into a bloody pulp for 21 years. Tomorrow, across the continent and here in the UK, wreath will be laid cenotaphs, monuments and graveyards to commemorate the sacrifice of countless young men, men who went into the war believing it'd all be over soon and no-one would get too badly hurt. Today I mourn the fact that, 93 years on from The War To End All Wars, when almost all who were alive to witness these events are resting beneath the soil, we still have wars, still wear poppies to support the injured and their families, still make excuses for killing innocents and wasting the lives of soldiers. Every war since 1918 is another insult to those who fought in the hopes that we would never again have to go through such horrors. Let us not forget, also, those conscientious objectors of their day. It takes braveness beyond measure to stand up for what's right in the face of a firing squad, and looking back, knowing (as they believed) how senseless and brutal WWI was, they deserve their place in history too. There is no day to commemorate them. Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge, Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs And towards our distant rest began to trudge. Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots Of tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind. Gas! Gas! Quick, boys! – An ecstasy of fumbling, Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time; But someone still was yelling out and stumbling, And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime . . . Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light, As under a green sea, I saw him drowning. In all my dreams, before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. If in some smothering dreams you too could pace Behind the wagon that we flung him in, And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues, My friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori. Hi guys! I hope that you're having a great day! (˶ •́◡•̀ ˶) Here is an easy recipe to make tanghulu! 1) Get your fruits and wash them THROUGHLY 2) Put them on a sewer 3) Get a cup or bowl that you can put in the microwave 4) In your cup/bowl, put two cups of sugar and one cup of water! 5) Stir well! 6) Then put your cup with your water and sugar inside the microwave, this will be the key component to help your tanghulu harden! 7) Try microwaving your tanghulu 30 seconds continuously until it looks golden maple syrup, bubbly, and ready! (If you do it too much, it will burn... and that happened to mine once) 8) Prepare your ice bath. Get a bowl (If you are making a lot, make a big bowl. If a bit only, small bowl) 9) Start dipping your skewered fruit into the golden sugar syrup. Coating it will make it crunchier and better! 10) Right after, IMMEDIATELY put your fruit into the ice bath. Let it be for a bit 11) If the syrup didn't make your fruit harden or it isn't enough, try microwaving it again or dipping some more. But remember, every time you dip you MUST IMMEDIATELY put it into your ice bath right away. Have a great time crunching and enjoying your tanghulu! ( . .)~ Don't forget to search up ".cookingfun" for more recipes! (UU

You can add some Oreo crumbs, or maybe some chocolate chips! Whatever you prefer 7) Get a spoon and enjoy! yum(っ˘ڡ˘ς) I'm not promising you that it will work, but it did for me! As soon as I try any recipes at actually work, I will post them here! Not saying that I will post often because I'm not much of a cook or baker! Anyways, have a great day and enjoy! 🤗
Hi guys! This is .cookingfun here! This is not a "recipe" but it's a really good food combo that I love! 1) Get a croissant (preferably a butter croissant, those are so much better!) 2) Slice it open! 3) Get some ham and some cheese (whatever type you'd like!) 4) Put the ham and cheese inside your croissant 5) OPTIONAL! For those who like mayo, I recommend putting some in! It's so good Now enjoy your ham and cheese croissant! Search up ".cookingfun" for more! <3
Hi! I hope you're having a great day! Here's a homemade ice cream recipe (THAT ACTUALLY WORKS) ! (˶ •́◡•̀ ˶) 1) Get a cup or bowl or whatever you'd like 2) Get some Heavy Whipping Cream and fill it up as much as you'd like (The more you put the more you get to eat) 3) Get some pure vanilla extract and add as much as you want (Don't add too little, otherwise no taste. But not too much or else too sweet) 4) This is optional, but if you want, get some flavoring to flavor your ice cream! I tried this with strawberry syrup and this was soo good 5) Mix it up A LOT and stir 6) When you are ready, put it in the freezer. The longer you put it in the more frozen it will be! I did this overnight and it turned out not too frozen so I guess I recommend over-night! That's all, thank you ε(´。•᎑•`)っ 💕 I will be sometimes posting some good food recipes if they actually work! I will not post much, but you can find some of my recipes at .cookingfun

Wednesday 7 September 2016 The Goth Dictionary Moontan The opposite of a suntan. The paleness achieved by never going into the sun. Gothip Gossip specifically spread within and about the black scene. The Scene or The Black Scene The global social scene or people actively involved in our splendid and outré subculture. Darque An action or statement that is nihilistic and causes a reaction of, “Oooo”. Drac Something markedly cool and pleasingly creepy. ie: “Oooo, drac”. Eldergoth Someone over the age of around 35 or who has been in the scene since the 80s. Usually given great respect. Babybat Someone new to the scene who is still finding their way around. Also "Kindergoth" or "noob". Necro Something deathly and dark yet undeniably cool. ie: “we cooked a necro-dinner, everything on the plate was black”. Normal Noun. Regular people that do not fall into any alternative subculture. ie: “he was hanging with a bunch of Normals.” Mallgoths Usually a cluster of teenagers looking spooky in a mall or other public place to attract attention. Bat Another name for a Goth in general. Über Also called “fancy”, someone with striking, over-the-top, gothic style with no detail forgotten. Bleak Used to describe music, meaning good, because that’s how we like it. ie: “Hollow Hills is nice and bleak”. Depression or Mope Cumulative noun, a large group of Goths. ie: “there’s a heavy depression coming in” or “a whole mope entered the bar at once". Trad Goths who have a taste for traditional style and artists, typical markings include teased hair, angular eyeliner, 80s inspired fashion, and pike shoes. Deathrocker Too punk for Goth, too Goth for punk. Fans of Deathrock music, typical markings include deathhawks, studded jackets, and torn stockings worn as any garment. Waver Fans of dark wave, cold wave, and other wave music, much crossover with Trads as far as taste and style goes. Poseur Someone who dresses up for attention and often talks about how dark and mysterious they are, doesn’t actually know anything about the subculture. Tourist Someone who dresses up in a “goth-costume” and hangs out in the scene, but isn’t actually a goth themselves. Weekender Someone who only dresses Goth on the weekends for parties on events, but has a normal lifestyle throughout the week. This is often forced upon people who work in a corporate environment or similar. Mansonite Someone categorised as a hardcore Marilyn Manson fan or imitator. Colourful Grey. Phaser Someone going through an obvious rebellious or fashion phase who will some day grow out of it. Cybergoth or Graver Fans of electronic “doof doof” music, often sporting UV reactive tube hair, fluffy leg warmers, and stylised gas masks. Goth Moth A normal person who hangs out with groups of Goths. Like a moth flying around and around a flame. Bubblegoth Also called “Perky Goth”, one who is generally cheerful, energetic, and may wear accents of pink or other colours. Probably has pink hair. Goose When someone tries dressing up to look very dark and fancy, but crosses the line into looking comical. Doomcookie Someone obviously trying way too hard to appear gothic, often marked by melodramatic poetry or behaviour. The doomcookie does not know that he or she is one. Also called a “TryHard”. Batcave A club in London considered a birthplace of the scene, where many classic, cornerstone bands peformed. Also the term used to categorise the sort of music played there. ie: “tonight’s gig is 80s, Dark Wave, Batcave, and Electro.” Batcaver Fans of Batcave bands who conform to the traditional style. Gothic Two-Step The classic dancemove involving staring at the ground looking forelorn and stepping from side to side. Part-Timer Someone who only takes part in the scene some of the time, and otherwise appears normal. Elitist An asshole who thinks they’re better than everyone else for no reason. Judges others openly, and often quizzes others on their knowledge of classic bands or obscurities. Elitists usually are not part of the scene for long. Which bring us to… Gother Than Thou The patronising attitude of looking down on others as not being “goth-enough”. Goth Card A fictional club-membership card used as a joke. ie: “you’re listening to Taylor Swift? That’s it, hand in your Goth Card, you’re out”. TRVE An unattainably high level of gothness. One must eat only black food in measures of 666 grams, bleed black, piss black, and probably be dead. Goth Points Something that doesn’t exist, used humourously ie: Carl McCoy asked for a photo with me, goth points off the charts right now!” Post-Goth Someone who has figuratively “handed in their goth card” and has taken on a normal lifestyle and fashion sense. Goth in a Box Someone who has undergone an overnight transformation by buying all their clothes and accessories from a mainstream alternative store like Hot Topic. Instant fashion from a box, without any originally or personality woven in. Not-a-Goth Someone who is obviously a Goth but furiously denies it, ie: “I may be driving a hearse in a black frockcoat while smoking a clove and worshipping Peter Murphy’s cheekbones, but I’m not a Goth.” Goffik No one likes dropping the G-Bomb all the time, a less embarrassing way of saying "gothic". Also "goffix" or "goffs".
