First level – Level 0
SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:
Class 1
• Safe
• Stable
• Minimal entity presence
“If you’re not careful and you stray from reality in the wrong areas, you’ll end up in the Backrooms, where there’s nothing but the smell of old, damp carpet, the madness of monotone yellow, the endless background hum of fluorescent lights at maximum buzz, and around six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to get trapped in.
God help you if you hear something wandering nearby—because it sure as hell heard you…”
NOTE: This level is being rewritten; it won’t always stay the same. Oh, and if anyone reading this remembers Bacteria being in this level… uhmmm… it’s been removed.
Level 0 is a non-linear, disorienting maze resembling the back rooms of a store. The rooms all look similar, with yellow wallpaper, damp carpeting, and flickering, buzzing fluorescent lights, but no two are exactly the same. Spatial properties are distorted: it’s impossible to navigate, and devices like GPS or radios don’t work.
There are no visible life forms and you won’t encounter other humans—if you think you see someone, it’s not a person. The environment often causes hallucinations, including deafening noises, déjà vu, incomprehensible languages, and unsettling peripheral visions.
Entry usually occurs through noclipping (phasing out of reality), and the only way out is through the same method, leading to Level 1. It’s also possible, though rare, to access the Manila Room, a safe zone where other survivors can be found.
Level 0 is silent, isolating, and dangerous—especially on a psychological level. No bodies have ever been found of those who failed to escape.
